It challenges me to talk about my roots because there are some things you keep personal. I have grown so much over the past 42 years, as we all have, and I don't particularly like that shy, intimidated young girl that I once was. And there are many people that remember that girl well.

I visited my first boss, who reminded me of that. He said I had changed so much. He was right. He remembers me as the Catholic girl from Charters Towers, who was so shy that I use to put my finished work in my in-tray hoping miraculously that someone would take it out and give it to the right person.

Yesterday I was bursting at the seams. Life couldn't get much better. I had a few meetings and they went so well, that I literally couldn't stop smiling and that feeling deep inside was one that I haven't felt in a long time.

There are so many things that entrepreneurs do right, and often it is for the world to see. Yet there are still some things that we don't quite get right. 2016 is going to be a huge year. There is so much in store and while we all focus on business, the Government has a few headaches not just with stimulating economic growth, but ISIS and climate change.

Making a conscience effort to be the best version of yourself takes a lot of soul searching. It also takes a lot of strength as you have to look yourself in the mirror and work out what is working and what isn't. Where you can improve and where you don't have to.

About 3 or so years ago, I made a momentus change by looking deeply within myself and exploring what I could possibly achieve in this lifetime. I set goals for everything imaginable, including the life of my dog (check out Instagram account @thereal_pippasmith), my health, my family, my career and so on.

I broke up every area of my life and worked out how I could live it better than I have lived it before. And you know what, it mostly works. Except you will slip up like I did on a few things, but they will mostly be things of the heart where your reaction isn't quite what you would have planned for it to be. By slipping up, you have the opportunity to change and work on that area, while you keep developing yourself and achieving the goals set out in front of you.

If you thought it was hard to start a business, spare a thought for those who are actually running businesses and trying to take them to the next level.   It's one thing to get off your bum and start a business that originates as just an idea, or the next viable step from working for someone else, but what happens when that takes off? Is it easier or is it harder.

And I totally agree. When I first started Marketing Eye, I built it from a perspective that there was no global player in SMB marketing. While this makes perfect sense, it didn't reach the pit of what I really wanted to achieve as a business person, or a leader for that matter. I also had not thought it through.

"I was doing something from a very real, a very honest place, so I think that's why I was able to build an audience," said Gwyneth Paltrow to Fast Company in a recent interview posted on Facebook.

10 mistakes entrepreneurs make

If you are an entrepreneur, and not a someone who thinks that you are always right, then you would realize just how many mistakes you make - usually on a daily basis.

We are all human and mostly we shrug off our mistakes and learn from them.

Entrepreneurs are renowned for making mistakes because when most of us started, there were no courses on how to be an entrepreneur, and mentorship was harder to come by then it is today.

10 Mistakes that many entrepreneurs tend to make:

Entrepreneurs are often driven by an idea, and many of them have not only a great idea but a way in which they believe will help make it successful; and that includes marketing.

The problem is that not all entrepreneurs are born marketers. Some may be born sales people and perceive this to be "marketing" but there is a distinct difference and once an entrepreneur is completely across this, only then are they are to make the right decisions for their businesses.
