Something that I live by in business is systems, processes and technology. Together they make a formidable trio.

Running businesses can be incredibly hard, well at least I think so. It takes a tough person to go through all the challenges that you are faced with from a day-to-day basis and just when you think you have nailed it, something else comes up and remind you that you haven't.

Have you been neglecting your health and fitness, maybe because you lack motivation, or simply don’t have enough time in the day?

Fact: Healthier and fitter employees are HAPPIER, they have increased self-confidence, they are more productive and they have more energy! We’ve heard it all before, but seriously, regular physical activity is vital for good physical and mental health, and this is why we encourage all our employees to engage.

How to adapt to the changing employee

From ice addicts through to people who are unfortunately suffering mental health issues, or even those who just get itchy feet - often... employees can be tricky. Regardless of their station, it is important to see the world from their point of view, as without them no business survives. It's like the chicken and the egg.

Losing jobs to technology is really nothing new if you think about it – even when humans haven’t been totally overrun they have learned to adapt to technology and machinery to become more efficient and accurate in what they do.

With continued advances in artificial intelligence, technology and robotics, businesses will need to stop and rethink their approach to getting the job done in the most competitive manner.

Businesses are having to transform their training models and methods, reevaluate their hiring practices, reconsider their organisational structure and transform their job descriptions.

Coping with stress in the workplace

Stress: We’ve all been there, we’ve all experienced it, but what can we do to manage stressful situations within the workplace? The employees that tend to be more productive are happy, healthy and stress free.

While experiencing some stress in the workplace is completely normal, I mean we all have stressful situations whether it be tight deadlines, confusion with a task, dealing with a harsh client/customer, but it’s excessive stress which can interfere with your overall performance, lowering your productivity and negativity impacting on your mental health.

Gone in a second

I've never thought that far ahead. It's not because I don't dare to think about the future, but more to do with the fact that I am in the present, working through one 'to do list' item after another.

Reality Check: Robots haven’t just landed in the workplace – they are already expanding their skills, increasing productivity and retention rates, and moving up the corporate ladder. As technology continues to bring unprecedented improvements into the workplace that essentially streamline processes and creates efficiency, employees will really need to start thinking about their value and worth to an organisation.

This morning, I decided to have breakfast at my favourite cafe, Hobba Prahran before heading to the office. I sat at Hobba with a big smile on my face. I have spent the past month with my teams in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Atlanta and it has been amazing.

The energy in each office, stand up meetings, pride in their work, on-boarding of clients and in general, their 'nice-ness' is beyond anything you would ever expect in an office environment.

I had a particularly stressful period of time. Hackers had attacked our business and we were leaking cash like no tomorrow. I handled it great for the first three days, then I fell apart. I felt like it was all too much. My life is full and to add that type of stress to my life, I felt overwhelmed. It was certainly challenging.

My team could see that I was stressed, and on my last day in the Melbourne office prior to heading to the US, the team wanted to celebrate my birthday. I asked them if they would mind if we didn't celebrate my birthday and celebrated just Christina's instead.

How to deal with sociopath employees

Psychology is a big part of marketing and company culture. Understanding people helps you navigate how to manage them, and how to work with them. Much has been written about narcissist employees and employers, but it is the sociopath verging on narcissist that is really someone a company needs to watch out for.

As a business owner or entrepreneur, you must never forget that your employees are your most important asset. Promoting health and fitness in the workplace is one of the most effective ways to encourage your employees to reach their full potential when it comes to confidence and productivity levels. Not only does health and fitness encourage a positive outlook on life and work, it supports a positive attitude, a healthy weight and overall better health which is beneficial to the company and employee.
