No body is perfect
per·fect/ˈpərfikt/
Adjective: Having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.
Verb: Make (something) completely free from faults or defects, or as close to such a condition as possible.
Noun: The perfect tense.
Nobody is perfect. I know. I have worked hard to be more 'perfect' in so many ways and have learnt the hard way that that is not possible. No situation in life is perfect. It can be good or even great, but not perfect. No human being is perfect. No house is perfect. No business is perfect. No animal is perfect. No holiday is perfect. No experience in life is perfect.
Perfect is not attainable, but being better is. Improving your status quo through dedication, perseverance, focus, compromise and a big picture view, can help you get your world closer to 'perfect', but don't be disappointed that you never get there.
I often relate women's relentless desire to have a perfect body, whatever that may be, to how one looks at their lives and their businesses or careers as it may be. I have put it out there, as you can see in the photo. I am a typical 38 year old woman, who knows only too well, that no body is perfect. This photograph was taken a few months ago, and I look at it and think, "my gosh, I wish that I had a flatter stomach without dints, or that my boobs were a little bigger, my thighs a little smaller and my hips a little more rounded", but you know that is never going to happen. It is what I am genetically born with. I can't change it. Sure I can exercise more, but that will only make me thinner which at my age, you never want to be. I could eat more, but I am sure that all the eating in the world isn't going to get me the body I want. My boobs may get bigger, but the trade off is my thighs will too.
In business, having a big vision in mind for where you see your business going is good. But don't be disillusioned if you don't quite get there. There are so many areas we all want to be perfect; employee satisfaction and performance, sales growth, marketing, brand awareness, profits, product and service delivery, expansion and more. By drawing up a perfect business and working hard towards achieving it, you will start the first step to turning a dream into a reality. When you start getting traction, don't be too disappointed if you haven't been able to tick all the boxes. In life, it is highly unlikely that we will ever be in a situation whereby we tick every single box, so why should we expect it in business. By aiming for perfection and doing the hard yards to work towards achieving it, we are mitigating our chances of failure, but being in touch with reality is equally as important.
Focus on what you love. Be happy in your own skin. Realise the positives that come out of you being present in your business, like inspiring your staff, creating jobs and doing something that you enjoy. Vision perfect, but don't expect it in its full enormity. It won't happen just like you want it to happen.
Celebrate success, aspire for perfection and create an environment both personally and professionally that makes you feel that the world is your oyster.
Handy little tip for a very stunning Thursday.

01 Mar 2012Definatley need to be happy in the skin your in. But if your not the time to change is now. No point moping about what could be, or what you don't have, but more about making the right changes to get yourself and your buisness in the right direction.
ReplyPerhaps we can't achieve perfection immediately, but we can slowley achieve this through short term goal setting, having the right attitude to make that change and moving forward.

27 Feb 2012If one strives to always be perfect, disappointment will always prevail as not one person or situation is perfect.
ReplyIt is our flaws which make us different and interesting. If we were all perfect then nobody would be unique and life would be mundane.
In business, perfection is not realistic, but always challenging yourself is the most effective way to improve and become the best person you can be.

24 Feb 2012There are women today that really look afetr their bodies. However, we can't change our structure or how big and curved our bones are. But we can change all around it. In other words, we can change the outside look but not the inside. And if they are nicely balanced then you aim for perfection.

23 Feb 2012That's true we can always try to do better or being better but the problem of this vision is that it leads society to be unsatisfied all the time because "it could be better!".
