Caring about people comes first
It could be a friend, a loved one, family, a client, a supplier or a member of your team.
When you watch relationships going on around you and you see people who genuinely care about others, its always a warm feeling. It doesn't even have to be about you.
I have a dear friend who is always thoughtful. He is the type of person who will have delivered to your doorstep chicken soup when you have a cold. He always opens the door for everyone and is the first person there for any of his friends if someone is experiencing hardship. He may be at his weekender and someone is having a tough time, and every single time, he drives back and is there for them.
I remember when he had a large staff base and he did exactly the same thing for everyone who was working for him. Mind you, he probably is the most liked person I have ever met in my life and he comes from a line of family members with the same sense of caring for others and good manners.
When your staff are having problems in their lives or perhaps are uncertain about their careers - often just by being a non-judgemental ear for them is all that they need to get back on track.
If someone suffers a death in their family, by sending a card to say you care, by offering to be an 'ear' for them or by giving them a hug - can work wonders.
For friends that are having hard times, letting them know you are there and will always be there regardless can be comforting.
And for relationships... taking time to understand the issues, thinking about both sides of an equation, making them feel loved and cherished and overall being there when they need you most ... keeps relationships together.
If you think about the different audiences and apply it to your life, you will always come out a winner and you will be better for it. There is nothing more rewarding in life than what it feels like to put someone else before yourself and genuinely care about the people around you.
We are all human. We all make mistakes and its the good ones that own up to it and move forward that live rewarding lives.

21 Feb 2012This blog is very important in today's society, as sometimes the busyness and stress of life can give you a short temper and distracted manner towards those most important to you.
ReplyIf someone is going through a hardship, they may need a friend to reach out to them first, as they may not feel confident enough to just start talking.
The best thing you can do is tell someone you are there for them, because it not only makes them feel special, it makes you into a better friend. Plus, you never know when you may need them too.

10 Feb 2012I personally have gone through tough times and it is true, you do find out who your true friends are through these periods. By being there for friends, family, and associates, you can almost guarantee that they will in return be there for you when times are tough. The notion 'treat people the way you want to be treated' is exemplified in these situations.

07 Feb 2012We are all human, so i agree with you on this one! Taking the time to listen to your friends, family members etc.is a big priority out of anyone's life. Listening to another person will help them have an avenue to vent their frustrations and then move on. Without this outlet, people will bottle up their frustrations and end up getting stressed. Bottling these frustrations may even cause others to release their frustrations in negative ways that can lead to psychological compulsions. i.e. Drinking once a day to drinking 5 times a day.
ReplySo a friend with ears helps pay off in the long run. It may take 10 minutes out of your life, but you could be helping someone else out for many minutes of their life!!!!!

07 Feb 2012I think it is much harder for people to be as caring and thoughful in their businesses as they are in their personal lives but it is important not to underestimate the impact respecting and being caring towards your team can have on your success. If your team feel you are there to help and guide them, they are more likely to work harder for you, to be passionate about your company and to stay with you. Treat your business like your life and your team like your family. Without them, you cannot succeed.
