1) Have a Marketing Strategy with real tactics that will help reach your business KPI’s
There is no point having a strategy document collecting dust in the desk drawer (or in the dropbox folder as the case may be!)
Your Marketing Strategy should be based on achieving the key objectives of your business, by implementing real tactical actions every month utilising the entire marketing mix.
Schedule your blogs, your twitter updates, your EDM’s and company brochures, to provide a consistent voice to raise your brand awareness. Everything you do should tactically be targeted toward generating leads into your business and helping the sales team convert the sale.
2) Use the latest technologies to reach your customers more often
The Marketing landscape has changed immeasurably in the 20 years I’ve been working in the field, and continues to change at a rapid pace. There are ways of reaching your customers in 2016 that you wouldn’t have dreamed about even 5 years ago. Make sure you are up to speed in the latest in Marketing Automation, so you are talking to you prospective customers at all levels of the sales funnel, and tracking what interests them on your website and about your offer.
And if you want your customers to engage with you online you need to have a good social media presence – you have to be where your customers are!
3) Plan your stories and keep ahead of the curve
There is no value in “flying by the seat of your pants” when it comes to Marketing, you need to plan your communication ahead of time to reach your customers with the right message at the right time. Content is still king and it is more important than ever to create great stories that your tribe want to hear about, so make sure you’ve got a content calendar organised with your key topics for the year, and a plan to share them across all your platforms.
