How one company nailed the group 'hug'

They are an affectionate bunch - by accident. It's not how they intended to be and it certainly is not politically correct to hug your colleagues particularly in this era of 'harassment' claims, but someone had to do it, and they did it right.

When life throws you curve balls, sometimes it's best to do nothing. I know that doesn't seem like the most obvious solution, but I have just learned that it can be true, at least for me.

For almost two months I have been unwell every day. It has gotten to a point, that whatever is happening in my body, put me permanently in bed for 5 days straight. No computer. No television. No phone. No people around. Just my dog who has definitely developed cabin fever and is dancing at her own shadow right now, because she needs entertainment.

The ultimate internal marketing strategy

It's 2018. Things have changed. #metoo and other movements have taken hold of our mindsets, and as such, a new, evolved workplace is being formed. The question is, what are you doing to make your workplace the ultimate breeding ground for talented, happy and balanced individuals?

There comes a turning point in life where you ask yourself: "Is this the best way to spend my life?"

If the answer to this question is "I don't know" or "I don't think so" then it's time to make a few changes.

Everybody dies, but not everybody truly lives is a statement that many of us should have posted everywhere around our offices and homes. Working is not living. While we may get a thrill out of the next deal or feel accomplished by achieving something we set out to achieve, it's not what defines us. It's not what is going to ultimately make us happy.

People often ask me how I do it. I travel continuously and have so for many years, without as much as blinking an eye lid. Booking my next flights is to me just part of the parcel of having a job that takes me across three continents.

Live and enjoy your life the way you wish

If I had a magic ball, I would look deeply into it and think about what I really wanted to experience and get out of life.

This morning I had breakfast at The Mercer Kitchen in Soho with my friend Kristina Karlsson, you know that phenomenal businesswoman who blows every other Australian businesswoman out of the water.

Are you passionate and is it good for you?

Bad relationships happen. They are inevitable. Particularly when you have been around for a while.

The more passionate you are about a person or anything really, the more it affects you and sends you a little crazier than normal. But mostly, logic comes back into play and you tend to correct whatever it is that went wrong.

Are rich people the most unhappy?

I sat in my car on my one-hour journey to work in the frantic combustion of Melbourne peak hour traffic, I flicked the radio channel from Mix to Fox Fm to Nova trying to find some music, anything to pass the time. As per usual, there was no music playing but rather the drone of their voices over the latest hot gossip on celebrities and news of the world.

As they chatted about celebrities’ latest love affairs, divorces, D.U.I (drinking under the influence), drug dependencies and criminal convictions I wondered what a life of money and fame would be like.
