In the past year, we have been involved in more than 500 marketing strategies and campaigns across multiple industry sectors including technology, professional services, health, life sciences, manufacturing, logistics and FMCG.

There is a reason why companies that are seeking to grow know that their business needs a marketing strategy. It is simple. You are 313% more likely to achieve your marketing goals with a marketing strategy in place. If these odds are given to you, and a marketing strategy is accessible and affordable, then it’s a no-brainer.

The last month or so has been unfamiliar territory to many small and mid-sized business owners. My first brush with Coronavirus was when a Melbourne - based Chinese employee said that she needed to go home to China to look after her family as they had become ill. I immediately understood her predicament and took the required steps to ensure that we knew enough information on the topic to forge ahead.
When life throws you curve balls, sometimes it's best to do nothing. I know that doesn't seem like the most obvious solution, but I have just learned that it can be true, at least for me.

For almost two months I have been unwell every day. It has gotten to a point, that whatever is happening in my body, put me permanently in bed for 5 days straight. No computer. No television. No phone. No people around. Just my dog who has definitely developed cabin fever and is dancing at her own shadow right now, because she needs entertainment.

Have you been neglecting your health and fitness, maybe because you lack motivation, or simply don’t have enough time in the day?

Fact: Healthier and fitter employees are HAPPIER, they have increased self-confidence, they are more productive and they have more energy! We’ve heard it all before, but seriously, regular physical activity is vital for good physical and mental health, and this is why we encourage all our employees to engage.

It is my belief that every business should have some sort of exit strategy. That may mean selling your business in the future, or it may mean handing it over to the next generation. The reality of business, is no-one lives forever and it's always good to go into business with a plan in mind, and that includes covering such things as ill health, death, a sale of the business, or passing it on to the next generation. Perhaps you want to list your company on the stock exchange or expand it overseas and sell off areas that don't make sense long term.

If you look at Wikipedia, you can read his profile, and although it has some inaccuracies, it gives you a good understanding of the background of the person who I am about to write on, Jack Cowin.

I am in a privileged position to be mentored by Jack Cowin, and I don't say that lightly, as I know what an honour it is to have someone with his pedigree giving me important lessons and advice on business and life. However, the honour is not about who he is to the outside world that don't know him, as quite frankly, I couldn't give a 'rats ass' as to how wealthy he is or how much money he has made - and that is what most people tend to attach to his name. Those things lack importance in my life, and to his. I am certain that he would not care about how much money he makes, instead he is more interested in the journey and never having to work a day in his life. He genuinely loves what he does, and as a man in his seventies, to still love what you do is quite special.

Once I started accepting that I was in fact an entrepreneur, I started living it. Not quite like those who don't really have a job and say they are entrepreneurs to sound "cool" or so that one would think that they at the very least had some purpose - but more like the type that wakes up every morning and races to the office.

Sometimes I think I have it all sorted. Things will be normal, or at the very least, my version thereof.

Many of us crave stability in our lives, yet when something becomes too stable, we reject it or think that something is wrong.

The question is often asked of our people at Marketing Eye : "What do you do that other marketing firms don't?". And the answer is quite simple.

While other's are now using the term "outsourced marketing department", few have actually defined it quite like we have at Marketing Eye. After 24 years in the industry, I have learned a lot from both succeeding and failing. From these learnings, I have developed a series of systems, processes and ways in which to improve our capability of delivering world-leading marketing strategies to businesses seeking a high growth return.

The difference is from start to finish

Give me all the money in the world and I would return it, stupidly some may say, for a life filled with fitness, health and happiness.

My theory being that if you hold those three of life’s gifts close to your heart, the money will follow.
