Best selling author and relationship counsellor John Gray is on to something, or at least the 7 million people who bought his book think so. The self-help book that proclaims that 'men are from mars, and women are from venus' has an analogy that by many accounts seems to run true.

If you think about the relationships you have in life and the difference between female and male relationships, it's easy to ascertain why there is often a miscommunication or misunderstanding based on the gender of the person you are communicating with.

Learning valuable lessons

This morning on the way to work, I walked next door from my building to get coffee. As always, I took my dog. She was not on a leash as we live next door to the building in which we work and she is well trained. Or at least I thought so.

A holiday is good for business

I've written pages and pages of notes whilst lying by the pool. I have recorded podcast after podcast in my hotel room whilst awaiting dinner engagements, meeting up with friends or going to the beach. And, I've written a new business plan, marketing strategy and information memorandum - all in one week.

Now, that may not seem like a holiday to most people, but as an entrepreneur, having a holiday is more about letting my body relax and freeing my mind from any stresses. If ideas and innovations flow from being in this relaxed state, then jotting down some notes, really isn't too difficult at all.

GOALS VS ACTIONS


A new year means many things to many people. If you are an entrepreneur and it is a new financial year, your goals will tend to be around business. Alternatively, 1st of January tends to be a combination of personal and professional goals.

As I look back on the year we have just had, I smile. Why? I think it is more to do with growing – as a person and as an entrepreneur.

Have we lost the art of having a good relationship?

 Do any of us know what a truly good relationship is? Most of us aspire to have a relationship that ticks all the boxes and is mutually beneficial but like anything, there are good times and there are bad times.

In business, sitting down with your clients and getting to know them on a level where there is mutual respect, kindness, care and understanding, is something that many business people did really well in the eighties but it seems to be an art form of the past.
