Restaurant Marketing: How to get more customers in your restaurant
The food needs to be delicioius. Mouth watering. Something that your customer thinks about without even being there and tasting it. They need to sit around chatting to their friends, and at the same time be dreaming that they are eating a meal at your restaurant.
Your restaurant needs to be convenient. Not necessarily around the corner, but in close enough proximity to not be a hassle to get to.
The service needs to be exceptional. I am talking REALLY EXCEPTIONAL. Not the kind where you have been there a hundred times and they still don't know your name. Nor the kind that doesn't take your order in a timely manner or know where you like to be seated.
On Friday night, I had dinner with my good friend Sarah. We thought we would head down to The Smith in Prahran because she had only been there once and it's not a bad after work drink place.
Not only could we not get a table, or sit down in a half empty restaurant, we had to wait forever to be served and the staff were far too direct and not so personable.
It wasn't a great experience. In fact, its the third time, I have said to myself that I will not go back there and eat. The first time, we booked late and there were three of us who not only ate a number of plates of food, but also ordered expensive champagne, only to be rushed beyond belief an hour before they informed us that the table would be required for someone else. Fair enough, double booking is how they make their money, but an hour before? Seriously, bad service.
The second time was only weeks ago and I just thought the food was ordinary. Bland and boring. Not worth coming back for.
But as it would be, friends often make suggestions and I don't normally like to make a deal of bad service.
Given that there were no tables available, we decided to go down to Fog in Prahran. I like because the food is to die for, the service exceptional and even if they are full, they find a way to accomodate you. There is no pretension and you are always guaranteed a good time. Now, this isn't a bad rap for one of the top restaurants in Melbourne and definately in the top 5 you must always visit if you come to Melbourne. Everyone from Justin Timberlake through to local football stars are regulars at Fog, so not only are you going to have a good time, but if you are into star watching, this is definately the place to go.
There is no stronger way to market a business than through word of mouth marketing. Having a website, a twitter account, pinterest and facebook all adds to awareness, but the strongest form of referral is through word of mouth marketing.

One of the first things they check out is your facebook profile.
The best way to handle this is to respond to these
negative reviews by apologizing. Develop and deliver valuable content
for your target audience. Great sales copy is absolutely essential to sell your
book. For most businesses, the only way to get seen today is to
hire help, so consider that as an option. In addition a speakerphone is provided which offers hands-free
communication. The mixture of these two forms of online marketing is a perfect recipe for online business success.
Remember that all social media sites are different. Each initiative that comprises the marketing plan must then have a pre-established audience profile,
outreach, value proposition, and budget that you are willing to spend.

03 Sep 2012Word of mouth marketing is definitely the best way to build a restaurant's reputation. I always critique the food and service of restaurants I visit and regulary share my opinions with friends and family.
ReplyAn example is a cafe that opened up in my neighborhood a year ago. It was extremely busy in the beginning, friends would check in on Facebook, it was in a convenient location to catch up for coffee, lunch or dinner, everyone was talking about it and you would always see someone you know when you visited. Although the initial buzz slowly died down once many people decided that the food was average and service was not up to scratch. Now you will only ever see the cafe half full which is disappointing because it had so much potential.

15 Aug 2012No matter what restaurant I go to I believe you can see within the first 5 minutes if they have put thought in it or not. I am expecting great decoration, great staff and obviously great food.
ReplyI feel comfortable if I - as a customer- have the feeling, that I get the best treatment as everybody else and this starts from entering the restaurant and ends with leaving it.
I would never recommend a restaurant to any of my friends or family, if I didn´t feel good about it. So treat every customer with best service and they can be sure customers might pass their great experience to others. Maybe some restaurant are not aware how important "mouth marketing" is for their business. Great ideas and strategies don´t work if they are not implemented well. Restaurants should always have that in mind.

10 Aug 2012When we eat at restaurants I think half of what we're paying is for service. We know that usually the food, no matter how good it is, only costs a fraction of the price. Eating out is also about the experience and service accounts for a lot of it. Having exceptional service definitely allows restaurants to charge a premium.
