To ensure success in a marketing plan, a few steps must be utilised. Having a set structure to follow throughout the campaign will guarantee consistent results as all necessary steps are taken to best address your client's needs. In addition, a successful plan will demonstrate a clear understanding of the customer's needs, desires, psychographics, and demographics and outline how your message will captivate these audiences.

There is this notion that marketing consultants should know it all. They are after all qualified in marketing and are employed to steer a company or brand with their knowledge and expertise. Sitting in my office in South Yarra, Melbourne, I am reminded at just how much experience is in the room, but while we are all skilled at what we do, we learn every single day something new. Our industry is evolving, growing, changing, adapting and being disrupted through technology and innovation.

As much as I would love to say that being an entrepreneur is smooth sailing, I know that I would not be telling the full story.

Setting Professional and Personal Goals

Do you have your goals in place for 2020? What about the rest of the year? It’s important to define what you want to accomplish, whether it’s in your personal or professional life. Taking an objective look at where you want to be and how you want to get there is the best way to achieve something.

Write down your goals

If there are things you haven’t achieved yet, it might be because you haven’t written them down. Putting your goals down on paper might be the first physical step towards realising what you want to accomplish. Writing your goals down can be a cathartic experience, because this means that you have, at the very least, a general idea of where you want to be and what you want to do. Defining what you want to achieve is a huge step in this process because achievements can take on very abstract forms. Keep a list, no matter what the timeline is so that you can check things off as you accomplish them.

Find accountability

Accomplishing goals is hard to do on your own. Bring someone along with you on your journey! Finding an accountability partner is the best way to make sure you are achieving what you want. It’s not an easy process, but it can make a huge difference in your journey. A good accountability partner can support you along the way in your journey and provide some tough love when you get side-tracked. This relationship works best when you can talk to someone you trust and respect, which should allow for your partner to give you constructive criticism when you need it.

Celebrate the wins, recover from the losses

There’s nothing wrong with celebrating your victories when you achieve your goals. You should celebrate! It’s a big deal. No matter what you decide to celebrate with, acknowledge how you achieved your goal and what processes brought you here. We are all on our journey, and we all will experience varying degrees of failure and success. There will be times when things don’t work out. Whatever the reason might be, make sure that you are kind to yourself in these moments. Figure out what went wrong, fix it and move on to the next big goal. Whatever happens, keep growing and moving forward.

Successful people have successful habits. It's true. They also work on things they are not good at, are passionate about 'something' to the point they are willing to make sacrifices and usually are prepared to work on their weaknesses.
