How to 'Pick Up Your Game': Marketing
Simply by getting 8 hours sleep (a blessing!), having a dynamic new recruit from Atlanta in the Melbourne office, seeing the team excited about life and their work and watching everyone and everything grow in so many ways - I had an a-ha moment (think Oprah).
It was almost like an outer-body experience. Here I was, looking from the outside in and all I saw was highly motivated, excited people that were all ready to tackle the world head-on and believed so strongly in what they were doing and how they were doing it - that they sent some type of magical energy to every person they came into contact with - including me!
It helps that the sun was shining - and for that matter that there is a bright future to look forward to.
Caught up in the magnitude of energy that surrounded me for 11 hours of the day, I went for a walk in the park, then knocked on my neighbour's door. Together, we walked up to the local Chinese restaurant and ordered the most delicious prawn noodle soup imaginable, sipped water and talked about where our businesses were going.
As exhausted as I was by this point, the fact that we were sharing our dreams gave me more energy than I could ever have imagined. Within minutes, I popped home to pick up my business plan and marketing strategy, then sat for the next two hours running through Marketing Eye's global plans. Two hours felt like 10 minutes. All of a sudden, I came alive with excitement. Ideas flowed and my friend offered to send out our latest e-newsletter to her database of 10,000 people because she too believed in our marketing strategy (and loves our work!).
While many small business owners feel that writing a business plan or a marketing strategy is the last thing they want to be doing at this time of year - it may not be as bad as it seems. Once you get started and really give your business, target market and environment some thought, you may find yourself more motivated than ever before. Share it with your team. Get their buy-in and ask them what part of your marketing strategy do they want to champion.
Keep a score board, set some goals and give out rewards to those who help your business reach its full potential.

17 Dec 2012Making a new marketing strategy at this time of the year sounds like a good plan. What would be better for the future of the company than starting the new year with a fresh start and a set of goals to achieve?
ReplyAt this point it's also good to know what your employees ambitions are and what will they give to the company to achieve its goals.
