A fresh set of 'Marketing Eye's'
While many have felt that I have sat on my hands, I have been quite deliberate. I needed the right person to be in the position that had the skills and passion to take the business forward.
As a progressive marketing agency, Marketing Eye will unveil a new technology in the market in August of this year. For the "big reveal" I personally need to focus on the technology and less on the overall Marketing Eye business. In some ways, I have been dipping my toes 'in the business' a little and not solely 'on the business' and that is a mistake because there are people more capable of managing clients and running day-to-day operations.
Being an entrepreneur with almost 20 years under my belt, I know my limitations and I know where I add the most value.
It is with this in mind that we have a person come on-board with exceptional skills that we have known for a long time. They too have owned their own marketing company and can see what a platform like Marketing Eye has to offer.
Sydney is a market that we have largely neglected in favour of our US expansion and dominance in other markets in Australia. Quite simply, we haven't had the right team leadership in this market to move forward.
What a new 'Marketing Eye' will add to the business:
A different perspective
Sometimes you just need a new set of eye's over your business in order to see it from a different perspective. Perhaps you are doing everything right, but businesses always need improvement. With this in mind, it never hurts to have a new person join your team and to give them the opportunity to provide feedback on the way you operate your business, and how you engage with clients.
Different skill base
In a senior position like this and particularly in marketing, there are new skills that a marketer can bring to the table. We encourage people to skill-share, job-share and to be able to do this, we need to constantly develop and train our team. Who better to train your people on something new than a new employee.
Fresh approach to the business
If you empower employees to be free in their thinking and to be able to share whatever is on their mind, then they will always provide a fresh approach to your business. Many entrepreneurs don't allow employees to do this and that is a huge mistake.
New networks
While Marketing Eye has been around for almost 15 years, we have never been networkers. Quite different from my first business, where I built the business based on my networking skills. Instead, this blog and our website have been our lead generators, helping take the business to levels that I never imagined. With this in mind, things should change when you bring in a new employee. Their networks, if they have the passion for your business, will enrich what you are doing in the market and help get word-of-mouth out there to new channels.
I'm incredibly excited about bringing new people on board and ensuring that we constantly evolve and grow as a company.
