You are never as good as you want to be unless of course you are a narcassist and you think you know it all, and that your s*** doesn't stink.

The reality is for anyone who wants to improve their status quo, grow and be the best they possibly can, you have to be ready to put in the hard yards, take the set-backs on the chin, and move forward with purpose.

Marketing Eye continues to grow and with that we take an approach that is innovative and collaborative. I've never been one to make decisions without consulting others, and mostly that has kept me in good stead. When we second guess things, that's when it goes pear shaped.

The 'why' in everything we do

As a child, no-one asked 'why' more than me. I was so annoying to everyone around me because I was curious and I wanted to know 'why' things were done the way they were, or why mother nature did what it did.

That has followed me mercilessly through life, and I say it like that because without doubt, it has gotten me into some trouble or at the very least, ruffled a few feathers.

Last week was mammoth. I spent 4 days on a speaking tour of the Fraser Coast, promoting Marketing Eye's not-for-profit, The World Incubator, and innovation as a whole.

There are many lessons to learn when talking to crowds, and the first is to adapt to the crowd you are talking to.

Yesterday I was bursting at the seams. Life couldn't get much better. I had a few meetings and they went so well, that I literally couldn't stop smiling and that feeling deep inside was one that I haven't felt in a long time.

Making a conscience effort to be the best version of yourself takes a lot of soul searching. It also takes a lot of strength as you have to look yourself in the mirror and work out what is working and what isn't. Where you can improve and where you don't have to.

About 3 or so years ago, I made a momentus change by looking deeply within myself and exploring what I could possibly achieve in this lifetime. I set goals for everything imaginable, including the life of my dog (check out Instagram account @thereal_pippasmith), my health, my family, my career and so on.

I broke up every area of my life and worked out how I could live it better than I have lived it before. And you know what, it mostly works. Except you will slip up like I did on a few things, but they will mostly be things of the heart where your reaction isn't quite what you would have planned for it to be. By slipping up, you have the opportunity to change and work on that area, while you keep developing yourself and achieving the goals set out in front of you.

For the past 4 days, I have been in rural North Queensland township of Charters Towers. The town has just over 6,000 people, but the catchment of its region extends to just over 12,000 and takes in neighbouring townships.

If you have read this blog for a while, you may have realised that I am a country girl. I grew up in rural North Queensland in a small township called Charters Towers, just over an hour west of Townsville. It seems like a million years ago now, as I have been living in big cities for the past 20 years or so. I currently reside mostly in Melbourne and from there I have built a multi million dollar international business. What I have realised about business is that the  more mature my business becomes, the more flexible I am with where I work from. It certainly has got me thinking about where in the world people can build successful businesses from and what are the hurdles that they must overcome if they are not located in a major city.

I've always been aware that I have all the things in life that are necessary to become successful; mentors, learning and development, financial stability, and a community... and the right mindset. But it wasn't always that way, and the first thing that you need to know about being successful is that you have to have the right mindset and belief that anything is possible. It takes so many parts to be successful, but I guess for most of us, it just starts with a dream.
