It's not how good you are, it's how good you want to be in 2017.
The reality is for anyone who wants to improve their status quo, grow and be the best they possibly can, you have to be ready to put in the hard yards, take the set-backs on the chin, and move forward with purpose.
Marketing Eye continues to grow and with that we take an approach that is innovative and collaborative. I've never been one to make decisions without consulting others, and mostly that has kept me in good stead. When we second guess things, that's when it goes pear shaped.
In the last quarter, as a business we have had a lot of wins:
We supported financially The World Incubator to develop business ideas out of Charters Towers, and commenced a movement that came with a lot of resistence, yet worked. With possibly five (5) success stories and jobs in the pipeline, the town has an outsider who has given both financially and with resources to their community. It taught us so much as to why people resist progress or change, and what makes them go on the attack. Largely it is insecurity and being scared of the unknown. Some of it is why someone else is getting something that they are not. And of course, others just like to have a winge and you will never change that. What amazed me most is the strength of the people in The World Incubator and their desire to move forward ignoring noise.
We put on NQECON2016 and largely it came out of my pocket. I gave away a whole heap of tickets to people that I thought would benefit, and paved the way for them to open up to starting new businesses, or improving the one they are in. For others, it was about how they can do more for the company they work for and how they can better support their leaders, be more innovative and create change. Hundreds of letters, gifts, cards, and emails flowed from the event with everything from "you've changed my life" to "I am inspired". What more can one ask for?
The line up at North Queensland Entrepreneurs Conference was phenomenal and they were all my friends. How lucky am I? Isn't that something in itself to celebrate out loud. They did this to support something that I was passionate about and they each made a difference to the lives of the people who attended.
Some of our staff participated in the helping with NQECON2016 and The World Incubator as part of their jobs. It's interesting to see that dynamic and what charity means to them. Not everyone understands the importance of being charitable and that may come from the fact that they started with nothing and need to build up their own base, or that they embrace it and give it all they have. Paula Sagiadellis, Christina Kortesis, Miroslav Hrubes, Sanam Roumiafar, Amber Perry - all went over and above in every way and were incredibly charitable with their time and effort.
Graham Jackson from Loloma Jewellers and Alex McCormick from Mak Advertising went beyond anything you could ever imagine. They are simply Townsville's most charitable men and their support alone made the event successful.
New clientscoming on board gives diversity and keeps our staff interested in their jobs.
New technology developments including a disruptive technology weekend scheduled for early next year will take Marketing Eye to the world stage as one of the most innovative companies on the planet in marketing. How exciting is that to be part of a journey where the company you founded has that capability? I am so excited, but so is the team.
Christmas is closeand it means different things to different people. I am heading overseas to work while Australia closes down, and I am excited by that. Work is play to me - and I have never really worked a day in my life - so I know that my Christmas present is in my belly full of excitement as to what is coming my way.
