AI Productivity: My Journey from Robotic Marketer to ChatGPT to Jasper.AI to other AI Marketing
I first heard about ChatGPT and set up an account in November 2022. Prior to that, I had tried out Jasper.AI and found that it was generating generic data and the same content across multiple industries and companies. In some cases, due to how the technology was set up, it could only generate 2 or 3 responses. I sat for hours and hours on this platform, cracking the code and realizing that it still had a lot to learn.
But when I tried ChatGPT, I was completely gob smacked. The first day I was kicked off multiple times for over-using the platform. I wanted to see what it could do, so I tried everything imaginable and rather than waste time on areas that were not marketing, I made that my focus. I tried email marketing campaigns; much better than Jasper.ai. I tried blogs; definitely eventually got me 80% there however the first few times were questionable. I needed to put more detail into the prompt. Now I am getting blogs 90-95% there based on strong prompts. I tried e-books; 50% there. Webinar scripts; 50% and the list went on.
Today, I did a training session with a US marketing agency and was giving them tips on ChatGPT as a tool to use for productivity because that is what it is. No longer do I need to spend my day procrastinating and then cram in everything that the last minute. By not starting with a white piece of paper, even if it only gets me 50% there, I’m more productive than I have ever been. Only last week did I produce 89 pages in less than 2 hours of content. Now “adding value” will take much longer than that, but overall, my productivity level has gone up exponentially.
Teach the pupil:
Teaching ChatGPT about your company involves providing it with accurate and relevant information that it can use to generate responses aligned with aspects of your brand and necessary key messaging.
Here's a step-by-step guide to teach ChatGPT about your company:
- Gather Information: Compile detailed information about your company, its products, services, values, mission, history, team members, and any other relevant details. This information will serve as the foundation for ChatGPT's understanding of your company. Put this information into a chat. Ask ChatGPT to learn about your company. Its response will be to rewrite what you put in, but don’t worry too much about that. We are just setting the foundation.
- Provide Sample Responses: Create a variety of sample responses that represent how you want ChatGPT to communicate about your company. I always put in information that has been written before that I like. These responses can include answers to frequently asked questions, descriptions of your offerings, explanations of your unique value propositions, and brochures or website copy.
- Use Custom Prompts: When interacting with ChatGPT, use custom prompts that are specific to your company. For instance, if you're using a platform that integrates ChatGPT, you can start conversations with prompts like, "Tell me about your company" or "What products does your company offer?"
- Correct Misinterpretations: If ChatGPT generates responses that are inaccurate or misrepresent your company, correct those responses and offer the correct information. Consistent and accurate corrections help refine the AI's understanding. It will be instrumental for future prompts.
- Train with Examples: Utilize the fine-tuning capabilities of ChatGPT if available. This involves training the model using specific examples of responses you want it to generate. This process can help tailor the AI's behavior more closely to your company's voice and messaging.
- Incorporate Brand Guidelines: If your company has established brand guidelines, make sure to incorporate them into the responses generated by ChatGPT. This includes using the appropriate tone, language, and messaging style that align with your brand identity.
- Monitor and Regenerate: If your company has established brand guidelines, make sure to incorporate them into the responses generated by ChatGPT. This includes using the appropriate tone, language, and messaging style that align with your brand identity.
- Test with Users: If your company has established brand guidelines, make sure to incorporate them into the responses generated by ChatGPT. This includes using the appropriate tone, language, and messaging style that align with your brand identity.
- Iterative Process: Teaching ChatGPT about your company is an ongoing process. As your company evolves, updates its offerings, or refines its messaging, remember to update the AI accordingly to ensure its responses remain accurate and up-to-date.
Remember that some interactions may still require more of a human touch than others to ensure the best customer experience and to address complex inquiries that AI might not handle well.
This is only the first step in using ChatGPT. The next newsletter is how to use strategic information to feed into ChatGPT and what are the most obvious examples of content you need to fix.
