I was shocked when a friend of mine told me that his house was broken into in Townsville. Yet another break-in that seems to now be the norm for a town that has 10.1% unemployment rate (Source: ABS Labour Force Survey) or according to ABC article in June 2016, a 13.9% unemployment rate. Townsville now boasts one of the highest jobless rates in Australia.

I've been in the Netherlands for 4 days and I am mesmerized, as always, with its sheer beauty. From harbour views through to fields of everything imaginable, you watch from the side a sustainable country go about its day on bikes, without seamingly a care in the world.

Growing up in rural township, Charters Towers, has its positives and negatives. Firstly, with so much time on your hands, you really do have time to think, and dream.

The negatives, believe it or not, I forgot. But my journey back as an adult, the ‘small town syndrome’ hit me firmly straight in the face, knocked me back a few steps and as I was about to trip, I somehow found my feet and continued.

Yesterday was the 8 September 2016. It was a day that I will remember for a very long time.

As an entrepreneur, I work really hard to ensure that my business meets its goals and provides a rewarding workplace for the employees who tirelessly work to ensure that our clients receive an exceptional service.

It's taken 10 years plus to be successful to a point that I can actually look at the company and see that as a team we have achieved something that is unique.

Business is something that every entrepreneur has to work on every single day in order to achieve success.

Ranging from overall business strategy through to finance, human resources, technology, operations and the quality of your product or service.

There is nothing in this world that you cannot do if you set your mind to it.

Wow! I really mean WOW! Today has been a phenomenal day, and a catalyst for change.

Taking some good advice from a friend, I have been on the road to a new journey of self-discovery and it is a complete eye-opener.

Life has many twists and turns and you never know what is around the corner. 

I'd be lying if I said that there weren't quite a few things that have held me back as an entrepreneur, and been the catalyst to 'not being an overnight success story'. 

After 17 years in business, I have created my dream job. I work for no-one. I answer to no-one. I go to work everyday with enthusiasm because I don't have to go to work - I just love every single bit about my job.

Well like most Australians I was expecting to come to work this week knowing who is governing our country... and all being able to move forward with our business plans with some semblance of normality… 

And yet we woke up Sunday to a collective “WTF?”…
So alas, here we are again with a potential hung parliament and the country holding our breath as final ballots are counted… and Pauline Hanson in the senate. Don’t even get me started on that.

So what does this mean for business owners in Australia?
