I'll sell my soul to see your face

After a walk through Rushcutters Bay Park in Sydney, Lewis Lambert, Ethan Perry and myself headed to the office. It is 7am and we are all ready to kick some serious goals. This song came on the radio from Florida Georgia Line, "Stay".

"I'll sell my soul to see your face", a line that resonates and not for the obvious reasons. Remember I am a business person and most things in one way or another lead back to business. It made me think about the love I have for business, and the journey that I have been on. The vision that sits in front of me, and what it takes to get there.

8 Things Successful Entrepreneurs Do Well

One of the first things we think we realise about successful entrepreneurs is their toys; the big house, the fast car and their luxurious holidays - that everyone else just dreams about.

But this isn't exactly the case. In fact, the most successful people I know are not in fact flashy or anything alike. They still live in the house they bought when they first started out, don't update their cars yearly, and often have a holiday house or choose experience holidays over the swanky likes of St Barts and St Tropez.

An experience physically, is better than online - or is it?

Read the news online and you’ll realise there are many versions of the truth. It’s not just in navigating the world of current affairs that people find it hard to know what to believe or which version of reality is legitimate. In the new digital business world, consumers also find it increasingly tricky to sort truth from fiction and to gain trust in businesses. The recent rise of "fake news" has everyone pointing fingers at each other. So how in this new era, with cynicism increasing, can genuine business people reduce public doubt about internet marketing claims? How can brands give their customers confidence in their legitimacy?

How many people have had this said about them?

Cleaning out some old boxes on the weekend, I found a few things that took me back down memory lane. In particular, something that showed me that where I am today, was where I was always going to be.

We each look at our lives and depending on how clear our memory is or in most cases, our version of events, we may sometimes realise that we were meant to be where we are, or that due to a sliding doors moment, everything changed for the better or worse.

How to get leg up on your competitors in 2018/19

Everyone is busy doing budgets for the next financial year, and setting sales forecasts, while marketers are frantically trying to ensure that marketing strategies are in line with the results that management are looking for. What is most important is the ability for companies to read the market, understand what customer want, and easily communicate why they should choose a particular company over another.

Marketing Eye is fine-tuning our 2018/19 marketing strategy for Australia, ensuring that we don't just focus on Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Townsville, but also other States in Australia with a firm goal of opening offices in Adelaide, Perth, Canberra and New Zealand.

What you should un-learn from Meghan Markle proclaiming to be a feminist

Women, you are good enough. In fact, you are more than that. You now have the power to be anyone you want to be, and the most important person you should want to be is you.

Watching women in high profile positions spruik their feminism ways, should not be the "lessons" you learn about feminism and Saturday's Royal Wedding was a clear reminder of that.

A fresh set of 'Marketing Eye's'

For the past five months I have been incredibly picky about who would be the right person to spearhead the business in Sydney, a very important market to the Marketing Eye organisation.

While many have felt that I have sat on my hands, I have been quite deliberate. I needed the right person to be in the position that had the skills and passion to take the business forward.

Not enough hours in the day? Maybe you're doing it wrong.

When I think about what my life is like as a marketing entrepreneur, I often feel overwhelmed by the endless possibilities and the lack of time to execute all of my great ideas.

I try to fit as much as possible into every single day, and yet I still find that no matter how many resources I allocate to myself, my brain is working in overdrive and my list just keeps on getting bigger and bigger.

What makes some entrepreneurs more successful than others

One of the first things we think we realise about successful entrepreneurs is their toys; the big house, the fast car and their luxurious holidays - that everyone else just dreams about.

But this isn't exactly the case. In fact, the most successful people I know are not in fact flashy or anything alike. They still live in the house they bought when they first started out, don't update their cars yearly, and often have a holiday house or choose experience holidays over the swanky likes of St Barts and St Tropez.

If you truly want to be successful, then you have to look a little deeper at the people you aspire to be like. Those telling you how rich and successful they are, are more often not. In fact, those keynote speakers that spruik their monetary achievements, often are making more money out of speaking than out of what they proclaim made them rich and successful.

What 5 days in bed taught me about business

When life throws you curve balls, sometimes it's best to do nothing. I know that doesn't seem like the most obvious solution, but I have just learned that it can be true, at least for me.

For almost two months I have been unwell every day. It has gotten to a point, that whatever is happening in my body, put me permanently in bed for 5 days straight. No computer. No television. No phone. No people around. Just my dog who has definitely developed cabin fever and is dancing at her own shadow right now, because she needs entertainment.

What to do when all of a sudden you aren't getting the small things right

Something that I live by in business is systems, processes and technology. Together they make a formidable trio.

Running businesses can be incredibly hard, well at least I think so. It takes a tough person to go through all the challenges that you are faced with from a day-to-day basis and just when you think you have nailed it, something else comes up and remind you that you haven't.
