Over the past week, we have been recruiting for a number of positions at Marketing Eye and Robotic Marketer, and I have realised just different one marketer is to another.

There are so many different types of marketing managers and marketing executives in the market looking for jobs.

The work, life balance marketer

From the moment your fingers touch your keyboard, to the endless, tiring hours that your pour your heart and soul into strategising and pondering what your next marketing move is going to be, writing a marketing strategy is an arduous task, but a necessary one.

When you start a business, the rules are thrown out the window. You are more afraid of sinking that you swim – like crazy. We all go into new businesses with the right attitude, but seldom does that belief stay in tack throughout the entire process.

I first became an entrepreneur 20 years ago, and at first, it was sink or swim. I swam only because I didn't know what else to do. I never gave up when things didn't go my way, because I didn't realize that there was a choice; I could have got another job, or stayed fighting to ensure that the business was a success.
Marketing strategies mean so many things to so many different people, that there is no standard code - or is there? While I have been using the same marketing strategy format for the past 20 years, I am always alarmed when I see a sales person write up a marketing 'to do list' and proclaim that this is in fact their marketing strategy. Likewise, when an entrepreneur hires a college graduate who writes up a marketing strategy based on the format that they learnt at college, which is out-dated, lacking in relevance and most likely not something that the student has had the ability to actually learn in-depth.
Nicole Kidman plays British traveller, writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer and political officer, Gertrude Bell, in the movie Queen of the Desert. Her curious nature saw her explore places that no white woman had ever been. She was deemed successful in her pursuit and will forever be remembered as being an ahead-of-her-time woman who shaped the course of history.
If I look through my life and the various stages of my own personal evolution, I see change. From a shy child, to a young adult caring about what other's think, onto a career driven entrepreneur focused on creativity and exploration - I see a person who has grown inside and out. However, it wasn't until my 30's that I really came into my own, made decisions based on not only what I wanted, but what was best for the environment in which I live and the world beyond what I could see. I gained confidence through learning about the broader issues of the world we live in, and what I could do as an able person, capable of using their voice for positive change.
Do you remember when you first joined LinkedIn? If it was near the start, there were a bunch of people who invited you to be on the platform. The person who invited me was influential and someone I respected, so I started to fill in the form. I didn't write too much and didn't think too much about it afterwards. Afterall, I wasn't their target market - or was I?
Have you ever walked into an event and your whole body says "WOW!" before you utter a word from your mouth? Have you ever recalled a time when you went to an event and you became obsessed with the brand expression of the host, or just because it was so "cool"?
Marketing Eye is about to be inundated with clients due to a campaign we recently conducted that had amazing results. As such, we need to hire more marketing executives and given that we are now past the first quarter of the year, it is a good time to think.

What makes a marketing executive stand out from the pack?
