CUSTOMER OBSESSION: A ROADMAP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
A world-leading Customer Relationship Management (CRM) speaker, Ad Nederlof, will give Melbourne companies an insight into hot topic, 'Customer Obsession: Your Roadmap to Profitable CRM' at the Westin Hotel, on Thursday 18th August, 2005.
Businesses today are failing to effectively utilise their CRM programs and are ultimately eliminating customer satisfaction at alarming rates, according to Mr Nederlof.
As Chairman of Alcatel's Genesys, Ad Nederlof has pioneered how businesses view CRM and has authored numerous how-to-books including 'Customer Obsession: Your Roadmap to Profitable CRM' and 'Stop Customer Frustration'.
Research conducted for his most recent book has found that only 32% of customers would even consider repurchasing a product offered by a company with poor customer service.
"Consumers are more likely then ever to drop a business after just one negative customer service experience", Mr Nederlof said.
"Even more concerning is that frustrated customers are not only willing to talk about bad customer service, they are eager to do so", he said.
Whilst businesses recognise the danger in frustrating potential customers, it seems that once they've secured a customer that the real problems start to appear.
"It is alarming how many businesses fail to recognise the importance of their customers", he said.
Further research conducted by Mr Nederlof has estimated that the average cost that businesses and consumers share for each customer service interaction is US$10.
"With around 125 million service interactions occurring globally through telephone and electronic devices alone, this means that a staggering $1.25 billion dollars could be mis-spent by companies daily", Mr Nederlof said.
"In today's competitive business environment, the biggest concern here is the substantial gap between consumer and businesses perceptions of customer service".
89% of customers, however, will consider repurchasing from a company with previous faulty products, if the call center solves the problem.
Leading marketer and customer branding specialist, Mellissah Smith, is conscious of the value, importance and financial benefits of CRM, particularly for small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
"Customer-centric organisations are able to save costs on branding and positioning of their companies as they have created a valuable 'customer brand' ", Mellissah Smith said.
"Something that will only diminish through lack of focus and understanding of customer requirements."
As the Managing Director of Marketing Eye, a company that gives small to medium sized businesses a senior marketing director for a 12 month period to spearhead strategy and marketing execution; Ms Smith understands the significance of a customer brand and CRM on organisations.
"For many small and medium sized businesses, their biggest advantage is their ability to connect to customers," Ms Smith said.
"When it comes to 'Customer Obsession', SMEs are able to do this in a way that customers relate," she said.
"They are more capable of listening to customer requirements and tailoring their businesses to their needs in a more timely manner."
Whilst improving customer relationships can strengthen a company's brand and drive business growth, making brands entrenched into a customers mindset is a key asset.
"Creating a customer brand, something that is so deeply entrenched in the mind-set of an organisations customers, is the number one selling tool they can have."
An exclusive seminar titled "With Customer Obsession You Eliminate Customer Frustration" will be presented by world renowned CRM visionary Ad Nederlof on Thursday the 18th of August from 5-7pm at The Westin, Melbourne. Leading Marketer Mellissah Smith will also be discussing "Your Customer Brand".
